Take up Space

Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Procreate

In “Take Up Space" I combine digital art with textile photography to explore themes of resistance and belonging. Starting with photographs of actual fabrics, I build a surrealist landscape using a deliberately bold color palette of golden yellows, dusty pinks, and twilight purples. The figure pushes against an imposing form, expressing my experience as a non-binary femme person creating space in environments not built for me.

The scattered star patterns and dreamlike quality draw from surrealist influences, while the commanding typography reinforces the piece's message of active resistance. Through this mixed media approach, I transform the personal act of space-making into a visual statement about claiming our place in the world.
